You may have noticed in last week’s post we mentioned genetics quite a lot. That is because genetics and breeding are one of the major focuses of the game, and genetics control almost everything about Legacy’s horses. In fact, the game’s horses have over 600 genes! So what is under control of these genes?

A handful of the genes are exact mimics of real life genes, for example, the coat color genes. Very little is known about the exact function of most equine genes though, so we had to take some liberties in designing the rest. Nevertheless, all of the genetic aspects of the game are based on real-life science, as they were designed by a professional research geneticist.

What does this all mean? Basically, the horses in the game are both genetically complex and unique. The likelihood of two horses being the same across all genes in the game is an astronomically low number, so there are a lot of possibilities to breed for!
