We’ve always felt the current training system in Legacy Horse Game—a “click-fest”—left a lot to be desired. It’s too simple, repetitive, and doesn’t reflect the real-life thought and care that goes into horse training. With V2, we’re changing that! Our goal is to make training more thoughtful and varied by incorporating real-world techniques like positive reinforcement and pressure-and-release training. This new system will add depth without becoming cumbersome, creating a more realistic, engaging experience.
Overview of Training 2.0
Rather than simply clicking a button for each task, V2 will require more initial input from players. You’ll have new sliders that control your horse’s training style, which you’ll need to adjust based on their personality. These sliders will influence how well the horse responds to each session and how quickly they learn.
Here’s the breakdown:
Positive Reinforcement: How much reward is used in training.
Pressure: How much correction or firmness is applied.
Time per Session: How long each training session lasts (1-4 time units).
You’ll receive feedback messages that reflect how well your training style is matching the horse’s personality. If your training approach isn’t working, the messages will help you make adjustments. Once you’ve fine-tuned the sliders, you can leave them in place and train your horse in fewer clicks.
Personalizing Your Training Approach
The key to this new system is understanding your horse’s personality and adjusting your training style accordingly. With thoughtful input early on, you’ll spend less time training in the long run. If your horse can handle it, you can also train multiple “sessions” at once, saving you time while ensuring your horse is learning efficiently.
Autotrainers and Balance
For those using autotrainers, don’t worry—we’re adjusting how they work to align with the new system to ensure fair play for both manual and auto training methods. We’ll have more details on these changes next week!
