There are nine body types in Legacy. Mini, Pony, Light, Stock, Saddle, Warmblood, Cob, Baroque, and Draft. Each breed (excluding cross-breeds) is assigned a specific body type. (See below.) What determines body type in Legacy? Body type is determined by ten conformation traits: height, leg proportion to body, muscle mass, bone, crest, back length, topline, feathering, head profile, and neck length.
Each body type is outlined below with the specific breeds within that body type as well as which conformation traits determine that body type and any conformation traits that are limited in foundation horses. Traits marked with an asterisk are determining traits while all others listed are limited in foundation horses.

What about cross-breds? Cross breeds will fall into any of the above body types, depending on the outcome of the genes they inherit from their parents. Of course, two mini horse cross breeds will always make another mini, but if you were to crossbred a mini with a pony, the foal’s conformation will determine which body type it will have.
