In Legacy, injuries are a rare but significant aspect of horse care, influenced by various factors such as discipline, conformation, and living conditions. A horse’s involvement in rigorous disciplines may increase the likelihood of injury, while overcrowded pastures or cohabitation with multiple studs can also play a role. However, our game emphasizes realism without sacrificing the joy of horse ownership, ensuring that injuries, while possible, are not overly common.
Two prevalent illnesses in Legacy are respiratory issues and colic. While these conditions can prevent a horse from training or showing, rest assured that none of the injuries or illnesses in our game are fatal. However, one condition, metabolic laminitis, is permanent and will prevent a horse from training or showing. Fortunately, with conscientious weight management – or “condition” as we call it in-game – metabolic laminitis is entirely preventable.
Both injuries and illness proneness have genetic components in the game as well. Conformation influences the likelihood of injuries, offering players the opportunity to breed away from predispositions. Similarly, illness proneness is influenced by genetics, highlighting the importance of thoughtful breeding practices in maintaining the health and vitality of your horses.
