As we prepare for the launch of V2 in Legacy Horse Game, we’re excited to introduce a new level of depth to how players can manage their horses’ feed. While the current preset feed options will remain available, V2 will offer a more granular and realistic feeding system for players who want greater control over their horses’ diet and condition.
The New Feeding System: Sliders and Customization
In V2, players can customize their horse’s feed through three adjustable sliders:
- Grass Hay: 0 – 30 lbs
- Alfalfa Hay: 0 – 30 lbs
- Grain: 0 – 5 lbs
In addition to the sliders, players will also have the option to use a slow feeder, a tool designed to moderate a horse’s feeding speed and condition gain. However, there is a limit to the total feed a horse can consume per rollover, with a maximum of 30 lbs of hay and 5 lbs of grain, totaling 35 lbs of feed.
How Feed Affects Condition Gain
The new system is designed to offer both flexibility and realism, with each feed type affecting a horse’s condition differently:
- Grass Hay: Increases condition by 0.25 per 10 lbs.
- Alfalfa Hay: Increases condition by 0.5 per 10 lbs.
- Grain: Increases condition by 0.2 per 1 lb.
With these options, the maximum condition a horse can gain per rollover is 2.5. However, horses will naturally lose 0.5 condition per rollover if they receive no feed, and those at pasture can gain an additional 0.25 condition. The slow feeder mask further influences this, reducing condition gain by 0.25.
Balancing Realism with Accessibility
We understand that not every player will want to dive into the intricacies of feeding management, so we’re keeping the existing preset feed options available for a simpler experience. These presets align with the new system but provide a more straightforward approach:
- Basic: Equivalent to 20 lbs of grass hay, 0 lbs alfalfa hay, & 0 lbs of grain.
- Performance: Equivalent to 20 lbs of alfalfa hay, 0 lbs grass hay, & 0 lbs of grain.
- Concentrated: Equivalent to 30 lbs of alfalfa, 5 lbs of grain, & 0 lbs of grass hay.
- Balancer: 10 lbs of grass hay with a slow feeder.
This way, players who prefer a more hands-off approach can still ensure their horses are well-fed and in good condition..
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to develop V2 and improve the Legacy Horse Game experience!
